For us, B Corp Certification is more than a badge. It is independent recognition that our mission to tackle microplastic pollution is embedded not only in the products we create, but in the way we operate as a business.
From our home in Bude, Cornwall, we develop and deploy filtration technology for domestic and industrial washing machines, helping to capture microplastics and microfibres before they are released into greywater and the wider environment.
Our certification marks an important milestone in our journey. It confirms our commitment to meeting high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability, while continuing to grow a business that puts people, planet and cleaner seas at the heart of every decision.
What is B Corp Certification?
B Corp Certification is awarded by B Lab™, the not-for-profit organisation behind the global B Corp movement.
To become certified, businesses must complete a rigorous assessment covering five key impact areas:
- Governance
- Workers
- Community
- Environment
- Customers
Companies must achieve a verified score of 80 or above, provide evidence of responsible business practices, and legally embed a commitment to considering people and planet alongside profit.
This means B Corp Certification looks at the whole business, not just one product, campaign or sustainability claim.
For Cleaner Seas Group, it is a clear and independently verified signal that our environmental mission is built into how we work, how we innovate, and how we measure our impact.
Why this is Important
Microplastic pollution is one of the defining environmental challenges of our time. Every wash cycle has the potential to release tiny synthetic fibres from clothing and textiles into wastewater systems.
Once released, these fibres are difficult to remove, easy to spread, and can persist in the environment.
Cleaner Seas Group exists to change that.
Our technology is designed to make microfibre capture practical, accessible and scalable, whether that is in a family home, a hotel laundry room, a commercial facility or onboard a cruise ship.
